INDIANA, Pa. – The IUP women's soccer team extended its winning streak Saturday with a 2-0 shutout over Seton Hill in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference play at South Campus Field.
Junior forward Elle Smith scored both goals for the Crimson Hawks in the second half. Her first came in the 51st minute off an assist from sophomore midfielder Melody Leiva, and she added an unassisted insurance goal in the 64th minute.
Goalkeeper Sarah Gatz recorded four saves to secure the clean sheet, as IUP's defense limited Seton Hill to just five total shots. The Crimson Hawks finished with 11 shots and seven corner kicks, while the Griffins had two corners.
The victory improved IUP's record to 10-1-2 overall and 8-1-1 in PSAC play. Seton Hill fell to 2-9-1 overall and 0-8-1 in the conference.
Seton Hill's best chance came late in the match, when midfielder Jessica Molitoris had a penalty kick stopped by Gatz in the 85th minute.
IUP will look to continue its strong form as it pushes toward the PSAC tournament, while Seton Hill searches for its first conference win of the season.
