INDIANA, Pa. — IUP rallied in every set and came away with a straight-set sweep of Pitt-Johnstown, 27-25, 25-23, 25-21, Friday night at the Kovalchick Complex.
Delaney Concannon powered the Crimson Hawks (15-5, 7-3 PSAC) with 15 kills, while Jessica Neiman added 13 kills on an efficient .417 hitting performance. Setter Ellie Rauch directed the offense with 33 assists as IUP totaled 44 kills to UPJ's 27.
IUP trailed early in each frame but consistently closed strong. After falling behind 9-3 in the opening set, the Crimson Hawks surged back to tie it at 14-all before edging out a two-point win. The second and third sets followed the same theme, with IUP staying steady late to secure key points.
The Crimson Hawks outdug the Mountain Cats 51-45 and matched them at the net with six blocks each, limiting UPJ to a .092 hitting percentage.
Caroline Knight led Pitt-Johnstown (13-7, 4-4 PSAC) with 12 kills, but the Mountain Cats struggled to find rhythm against IUP's pressure.
The win keeps the Crimson Hawks near the top of the PSAC standings as they continue a pivotal stretch of the conference slate, with the team's next matchup on Halloween against Edinboro.
