IUP Swimming sets the standard in first dual meet

SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – The IUP Crimson Hawks swim teams opened the fall season with a dominant showing at Shippensburg University, sweeping the Raiders in the first dual meet of the year and setting multiple pool records in the process.

The women's 200-yard medley relay team of Kasha Stokes, Tina Cudina, Gem Crittenden and Kaleese Jallow set a pool record with a time of 1 minute, 47.15 seconds — nearly eight seconds ahead of another IUP relay team that finished second.

Stokes wasn't done breaking records. She clocked a time of 2:05.48 in the women's 200-yard backstroke, winning the event by nearly 10 seconds over Shippensburg's Makennah Fickett.

IUP also claimed victory in the women's 200 freestyle relay, with Cudina, Jallow, Stokes and Esson teaming up for another top finish.
