PETERSBURG, Va. — Indiana University of Pennsylvania opened its season with a dominant 97–53 win over Elizabeth City State on Saturday afternoon at the Multipurpose Center.
IUP took control immediately, leading 25–10 after the first quarter and building a 47–23 halftime advantage. The Crimson Hawks shot 54 percent from the field and outscored the Vikings in every quarter.
Belle Bosch led IUP with 14 points on 6-for-7 shooting in 16 minutes off the bench. Nyshae' Weaver added 10 points, eight rebounds and three assists, while Marin Miller also scored 10 points and hit a pair of 3-pointers. Eleven Crimson Hawks scored in the win.
Alexis Staton paced Elizabeth City State with 12 points and four rebounds. ECSU shot just 33 percent from the field and committed 26 turnovers.
IUP made 24 of 31 free throws and held a 20–6 advantage in second-chance points. The Crimson Hawks also forced 17 steals and scored 30 points off turnovers.
IUP continues its opening weekend Sunday against Virginia State.
