INDIANA, Pa. — Indiana (Pa.) remained perfect on the season with a dominant 97-53 win over No. 11 Fairmont State on Monday night at the Kovalchick Convention and Athletic Complex.
The Crimson Hawks (5-0) used a 28-point second quarter to break the game open and outscored the Falcons 33-12 in the third to put the nationally ranked visitors away. IUP controlled the glass with a 51-25 rebounding advantage and shot 53% from the field.
Nyshae Weaver powered IUP with 23 points on 10-of-11 shooting and added 12 rebounds for a double-double. Ellie Wilkerson scored 15 points, and Marin Miller added 13 points and eight assists. Belle Bosch chipped in 14 points and six rebounds.
IUP's defense forced 15 turnovers and converted them into 24 points. The Hawks also scored 42 points in the paint and 22 off the bench.
Gabby Reep led Fairmont State (4-1) with 15 points. Leslie Huffman and Alanna Tate each added eight. The Falcons shot just 27% from the field and were limited to six second-chance points despite 12 offensive rebounds.
Fairmont State took an early 6-2 lead before IUP responded with a 14-4 run to close the first quarter. From there, the Crimson Hawks never trailed and led 46-31 at halftime before putting the game out of reach in the third.
