Clarion sweeps IUP in PSAC West matchup

CLARION, Pa. — IUP couldn't find its rhythm Friday night, falling to Clarion in straight sets, 25-23, 25-20, 25-9, in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference West Division play at Tippin Gymnasium.

The loss is the second-consecutive PSAC West loss for the Crimson Hawks, bringing its conference record to 6-5. The win for Clarion brings the Golden Eagles PSAC West record to 5-6.

IUP battled through a tight first set but couldn't overcome late attack errors as the Golden Eagles pulled away, 25-23. Clarion maintained control in the second, taking advantage of consistent blocking and service pressure to claim a 25-20 win.

The Crimson Hawks struggled offensively in the final set, managing just four kills and committing 11 errors while hitting negative-.259. Clarion capitalized, closing out the match with a dominant 25-9 performance.

Delaney Concannon led IUP with nine kills and 20 assists, while Brooke Kessler posted a team-high eight digs. The Crimson Hawks finished with 29 kills and 29 errors on 112 total attacks.

The Crimson Hawks will travel to Slippery Rock on Saturday to take on The Rock. Slippery Rock has two conference wins on the season going into its Friday night match with Pitt-Johnstown. The match was not complete at the time of this article.
