INDIANA, Pa. — Teresa Maggio scored 16 points as the Indiana University of Pennsylvania women's basketball team rolled to a 77-38 victory over D'Youville on Thursday night at the Kovalchick Convention & Athletic Complex.
IUP jumped out to a quick start, taking a 19-8 lead after the first quarter and extending the margin to 36-18 by halftime. The Crimson Hawks continued to control the tempo in the second half, outscoring the Saints 41-20 to secure the nonconference win.
Maggio finished 7-of-8 from the field, including two 3-pointers, to lead a balanced scoring effort. Marin Miller added 10 points, while Ellie Wilkerson chipped in nine. IUP shot 46.8% from the field and 50% from beyond the arc.
The Crimson Hawks forced 29 turnovers and converted them into 21 points, while also holding D'Youville to 32.5% shooting for the game.
Karly Holm led the Saints with 10 points, but D'Youville struggled offensively throughout the night against IUP's defensive pressure.
The win keeps IUP unbeaten on the season as the Crimson Hawks prepare to return to action Saturday against Bloomsburg.
