ERIE, Pa. (AP) — IUP volleyball is set to make its 13th appearance in the NCAA Atlantic Regional Tournament and its fourth consecutive trip to the national tournament.
The Crimson Hawks will travel to Erie to face Fairmont State in the first round Thursday at 11 a.m. IUP is the No. 3 seed in the regional, while the Falcons are the No. 6 seed.
Last season, IUP advanced to the second day of the regional as the No. 2 seed before losing to No. 3 seed Wheeling.
The Falcons and Hawks have met three times, most recently in 2016. IUP head coach Avery Moore has experience against Fairmont State dating to last season, when her West Virginia State team swept the Falcons.
Fairmont State had three players earn all-region honors: Joey Borelle and Josie Skinn were named first team, and Josie Nobbe received honorable mention.
IUP's Jessica Neiman was named to the second team CCA and first team AVCA, while Delaney Concannon and Ellie Rauch received AVCA honorable mentions.
The winner of Thursday's match will face the winner of No. 2 East Stroudsburg and No. 7 Charleston on Friday.
