IUP came up short on senior day against Edinboro

INDIANA, Pa. – The IUP men's basketball team came up just short on senior day, falling to Edinboro 58-56 on Saturday afternoon at the KCAC.
 
IUP dropped to 11-13 overall and 6-10 in the conference while Edinboro improved to 14-10 overall and 10-7 in the PSAC.
 
Kymani Merraro led the floor with 25 points, had three assists, and one steal. Christian Moore added 13 points and seven rebounds. Ian Herring and Damir Brooks each grabbed eight rebounds. Herring also recorded a block and two steals, while Brooks added two blocks.
 
Merraro opened the scoring for the Crimson Hawks with a three-pointer, followed by a layup from Callum MacNamara at 17:44. IUP got out to a four-point lead from Grove's layup at 10:08 after the teams traded baskets. The Fighting Scots took the lead at 7:14 from a three-pointer. Moore tied up the game at 29 apiece with three minutes remaining in the half. A free throw from Moore closed out the first half, with IUP trailing 35-32.
 
Edinboro went on a 9-0 run that extended their lead to 13 points near the 10-minute mark. Tyler Grove and Merraro each made baskets to cut the deficit to six points. Sarp Furtun hit a jumper at 4:21, followed by a layup from Merraro at 2:24. Merraro then added five more points down the stretch, but IUP's comeback effort fell just short as the Crimson Hawks came up two points shy, 58-56.
