IUP defeated Shepherd on the road in overtime, 12-11

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. -- IUP women's lacrosse picked up their first win this season after Macenzie Haragos scored the game winning goal in overtime against Shepherd, 12-11. 

Brenna Whiteside and Maggie Boyle each recorded three goals, which Leah Moyer and Emme Mass each contributed two.  

At the game, Emme Mass recorded her 100th career draw control as she totaled three on the day. 

A minute into the game Shepherd scored but IUP countered back with a goal from Boyle at 10:20 that tied the score. The Rams closed out the first quarter with three more goals to jump to a 4-1 lead. 

At 10:25 in the second, Moyer found the net. For the remainder of the second quarter the teams traded two goals each with goals coming from Boyle and Whiteside for IUP. IUP ended the first half down two, 6-4. 

IUP was quick to score three goals four minutes into the third quarter to gain the lead. The first two goals came from Boyle and Whiteside and were free position shots. Whiteside's third goal of the day came at 11:29 which gave the Hawks the lead, 7-6. 

The Rams finished the quarter with four more goals to mark 10 on the day while Moyer and Mass each scored to put the Hawks within one. 10-9. 

In the fourth quarter, Mass scored a goal at 14:17 and was assisted by Moyer. Two minutes later, Shepherd scored their final goal of the game to regain the lead. A goal by Maggie Kilgallon tied the game at 11 each. The teams remained scoreless for the remainder of the fourth to force overtime. Haragos scored the game winning goal that gave the Hawks their first win this season.
