ANNVILLE, Pa. – The IUP women's lacrosse team dropped to No. 9 East Stroudsburg, 19-6, Saturday afternoon at Lebanon Valley College.
East Stroudsburg nearly doubled IUP's shot attempts and IUP won 11 of 26 draw controls. IUP dropped to 1-3 on the season while ESU improved to 3-1.
The Warriors began the scoring with four consecutive goals in the first quarter, that was broken up by a
Kathryn Burke goal at 6:08 to put IUP on the board. ESU added two more goals in the first and
Maggie Boyle closed the first with a free position goal for IUP at 1:17.
IUP had the advantage in the second quarter as they scored three goals compared to ESU's two.
Leah Moyer scored twice and
Alexi Crosby added one at 5:22, which put IUP within three, 8-5.
East Stroudsburg went on a 10-0 run jumping to a huge 18-5 lead throughout the third and fourth quarters.
Julia Steere scored her first goal this season at 2:38 which was then followed by one more goal from the Warriors to cap the game at 19-6.
