IUP lacrosse falls short in comeback attempt

GREENSBURG, Pa. -- The IUP women's lacrosse rallied in the second half with nine goals but fell short of overcoming Seton Hill's seven goal lead through the first two quarters, falling 16-13. 

The Crimson Hawks are now 4-9 overall and 2-4 in PSAC action. Seton Hill improved to 9-4 on the season and 5-1 in the conference. 

Macenzie Haragos led with four goals and both Maggie Boyler and Kathryn Burke scored three. Emme Mass scored two goals and won five draw controls. In the goal was Mia Courtalis who made seven saves.  

IUP's first four goals were scored in the second quarter. Haragos scored the first three goals for the Hawks. The first goal came at 13:49 from a free position shot, the second at 6:44, and the third at 2:08 to put IUP within six, 9-3. Boyle scored IUP's fourth goal at 1:05 and was assisted by Burke.  

At the end of the first half, the Hawks trailed 11-4.  

Burke scored the first two goals in the third from free position shots at 14:22 and 9:34. Mass found the net at 6:56, also from a free position shot. Boyle netted one at 1:08 and was assisted by Alexi Crosby to put IUP within five, 13-8.  

Crosby netted her first of the game at 12:53 which put IUP back within four, 13-9. The teams traded a pair of goals with Haragos and Burke scoring for IUP around the seven-minute mark. Mass scored her second goal at 5:18 and Boyle added the final goal at 2:58 from a free position shot.
