IUP baseball extends win streak to 10 games with win over Fairmont State

FAIRMONT, W.Va. -- The IUP baseball team extended their win streak to 10 games after they shutout the Falcons, 8-0 Tuesday evening. IUP's overall record now stands at 17-19.

Au'sean Owens went a perfect 3-for-3 at the plate, scored two runs, and had two RBIs. Ricardo Aponte scored two runs and had two hits and one RBI.

IUP first run came in the third from a Mike Huber RBI single to left field that drove in Aponte. In the fourth, Camden Rhude drew a walk and advanced to second when Robert Carfagno singled through the right side. A groundout pushed both runners up a base, and Owens drove them in with a single to right field.

Owens singled, stole second, and scored on a double down the left field line by Aponte. Aponte then stole third and came home on a wild pitch. Three walks loaded the bases, and Carfagno drew another walk to force in Huber, pushing the lead to five.

The final two runs were scored in the top of the eighth. Owens started the inning with a double to right center and advanced to third on an error. Peyton Johnson's RBI double sent Owens to score, and Johnson later scored an unearned run.
