INDIANA, Pa. -- The IUP baseball team fell to PSAC West top seed California (Pa.) in Thursday afternoon's doubleheader, snapping their 10-game winning streak.

With today's results, IUP is now 17-21 overall and 11-7 in conference action.

Game one
The Vulcans scored three unanswered runs before IUP scored their lone and final run in the bottom of the sixth. Mike Huber doubled to center field and came around on Peyton Johnson's RBI single to right center.

Johnson went 3-for-3 at the plate, Huber had two hits, and Teague Hoover had one.

Game two
Ricardo Aponte went 3-for-4 at the plate and scored three runs. Huber also went 3-for-4 at the plate, scored one run and had three RBIs. Mitchell Grosch had two hits, scored one run and had one RBI.

In the first inning, Aponte led off with a double down the left field line and advanced to third on Grosch's fly out to center. Huber's single to center field drove in Aponte to put the Hawks on the board.

California (Pa.) added a run in the top of the second inning and two in the third inning.

Aponte led off the bottom of the third with a double to right field and advanced to third on a passed ball. Grosch's double down the right field line drove in Aponte and Grosch scored on Johnson's RBI single to center field which tied the game at three each. Robert Carfagno doubled to left field and advanced to third on the throw while Johnson came around and scored on the error to put IUP ahead 4-3.

The Vulcans evened the score after a run came home on a wild pitch.

In the bottom of the fourth, Aponte continued his hitting streak with a single to center field. Grosch followed with a single to right field, and Aponte advanced to third. The Vulcans made a pitching change, however with two outs on the board Huber doubled down the left field line sending Aponte to score and Grosch to third base. A strikeout ended the inning leaving two runners stranded.

The fifth inning ended with three quick outs for each team.

California (Pa.) pulled ahead in the top of the sixth, plating three runs on three hits to take a 7-5 lead.
