BLOOMSBURG, Pa. -- The IUP women's tennis team secured its fifth consecutive PSAC Championship title with their hard-fought 4-3 win over Slippery Rock, Friday evening.
Dani Ramos was named the most valuable player of the PSAC Tournament. Ramos posted a combined one doubles and two singles win throughout the day.
"This was easily one of the best matches I have ever been a part of as a coach. I am extremely proud of the team for how hard they battled. Each match was close, and hats off to Slippery Rock", said head coach

IUP began the match by winning the doubles point. At No. 2 doubles,
Annemiek Sterk and Lieselotte Hartlohner earned a 6-4 win, while
Hannah Beitat and
Asel Calbay secured the point with a 6-2 victory at No. 3 doubles.
Ramos kept the momentum going in singles, dominating at No. 3 with a 6-1, 6-3 win to give IUP a 2-0 lead. Ramos controlled the first set, but in the second, she battled back from a 3-3 score to 6-3.
Slippery Rock responded by winning at No. 2, No. 1, and No. 4 singles to take a 3-2 lead.
IUP battled back at No. 5 and No. 6 singles for the win. Sterk dropped her opening set at No. 6 singles, 4-6, but bounced back to win the next two, 6-3, 6-4. Calbay then sealed the championship at No. 5 singles. After dropping the first set 2-6, she battled back from a 0-3 deficit in the second to win 6-3, and then rallied again from 2-3 down in the third to claim it 6-4.
