INDIANA, Pa. – Indiana University of Pennsylvania dropped a 2-0 decision to Slippery Rock on Tuesday afternoon at South Campus Field.
SRU struck twice in the first half, with Abby Paterline scoring in the 16th minute off an assist from Sophia Palermo. Lilia Battalini added the second goal just three minutes later to give The Rock a 2-0 lead at halftime.
The Crimson Hawks created several chances late in the first half, with Emily Lattea and Paige Fausey forcing saves from goalkeeper Leah Allman.
IUP tightened defensively after the break as Serayah Leech took over in goal and made several stops, including a close-range save on a shot from Libby Zacharyasz. On the other end, the Crimson Hawks pressed forward with multiple corners and quality shots. Elle Smith came closest to scoring in the 76th minute with a low strike on goal, but Allman preserved the clean sheet.
Despite outshooting Slippery Rock in the second half, IUP was unable to break through.
