Field Hockey Signs IMPACT Player, Kylie McMullen

INDIANA, Pa. – How do you make an impact? Is it your play on the field? Your leadership in the locker room? Or is it something else? When you look at the IUP Field Hockey roster, you will see a roster member who is No. 1 and her position is IMPACT. No. 1 is Kylie McMullen, who will not be scoring goals or making saves, but she will have a great impact on the team.

Through the organization called "Team Impact," McMullen officially became a member of the IUP Field Hockey Team during a ceremony at the Kovalchick Convention and Athletics Complex on Monday night. Team Impact is a nonprofit that leverages team camaraderie and a sense of belonging to ensure children struggling with social and emotional trauma that comes with fighting life-altering diagnoses develop socially and never feel alone.

Kylie is fighting a challenging diagnosis, but she has become a mainstay with the IUP Field Hockey Team over the past year. As stated by Kylie herself, she is "adventurous" and "nice." According to IUP Field Hockey Coach Kelly Terwilliger, she is funny, smart, and loving.

"Kylie teaches us every day what real strength looks like. Our team talks about effort, unity, and resilience, and Kylie lives those qualities," said Coach Terwilliger. "Having her officially join our roster reminds us that impact isn't always measured on the field. Sometimes, it's about courage, joy, and heart."

Kylie received an IUP No. 1 jersey and, even though she has been part of the team for much longer than just tonight, she made it official with her signature on the dotted line.
