INDIANA, Pa. — The Indiana University of Pennsylvania women's basketball team continued its unbeaten start to the season with an 85-50 victory over West Chester on Friday afternoon at the Kovalchick Convention & Athletic Complex.
IUP set the tone early, holding West Chester to seven points in the opening quarter while building a 19-7 lead. The Crimson Hawks carried a 44-27 advantage into halftime and pulled away in the second half behind efficient shooting and a balanced scoring effort.
Nyshae' Weaver led IUP with 17 points, while Teresa Maggio and Ellie Wilkerson each added 13. Belle Bosch and Molly Keane finished with 10 points apiece as the Crimson Hawks placed five players in double figures.
IUP shot 57.6 percent from the field and connected on 10 three-pointers, while also controlling the glass and forcing turnovers that led to transition opportunities.
Lena Stein paced West Chester with 10 points. The Golden Rams struggled offensively throughout the game, shooting under 30 percent from the field.
With the win, IUP remained undefeated on the season and perfect in conference play, while West Chester dropped its second PSAC game.
