INDIANA, Pa. — The Indiana University of Pennsylvania women's basketball team stayed unbeaten in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference play with a 68-60 victory over Pitt-Johnstown on Wednesday night at the Kovalchick Convention and Athletic Complex.
IUP improved to 13-0 overall and 7-0 in the PSAC, while Pitt-Johnstown dropped to 5-9 and 2-5 in conference action.
Nyshae' Weaver led the Crimson Hawks with 21 points and 10 rebounds, recording a double-double on 9-of-15 shooting. Teresa Maggio added 12 points, and Ellie Wilkerson finished with 11 as IUP placed three players in double figures.
The Crimson Hawks built an early lead and maintained control through balanced scoring and defensive pressure, forcing 16 Pitt-Johnstown turnovers and converting them into 28 points.
Ali Hardwell scored eight points on perfect shooting from the field, while Madison Zavasky added six off the bench. IUP shot 45.6 percent from the floor and made timely free throws down the stretch to hold off the Mountain Cats.
Pitt-Johnstown was led by Lexi Margolis with 14 points, including two 3-pointers. Camille Dominick scored 11 points, and Riley Childress added seven. The Mountain Cats were perfect at the free-throw line, going 11-for-11, but were unable to overcome IUP's consistent offense.
