INDIANA, Pa. — The Indiana (Pa.) swim and dive teams celebrated Senior Recognition Day and fan appreciation Saturday during a home meet at Pidgeon Natatorium and the Zink Hall Pool.
The Crimson Hawks recognized their seniors prior to the start of competition, which also featured Pitt-Johnstown. The Mountain Cats were represented by four swimmers.
IUP opened the meet with the women's 200-yard medley relay, as Bella Rhoades, Tabatha Ward, Julie Zaffiro and Summer Esson finished in 1:57.77.
The Crimson Hawks turned in a strong performance in the sprint freestyle events, highlighted by Tina Cudina's win in the women's 100-yard freestyle with a time of 54.12. Kyla Kramer claimed victories in both the 100-yard breaststroke (1:08.13) and the 200-yard individual medley (2:19.11).
On the men's side, Trent Powell won the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:01.41. Senior Stephen Goff added a victory in the 100-yard butterfly, finishing in 54.37. Fellow senior Jordan Crupie won the 50-yard backstroke in 28.45, while Riley Yute captured the men's 50-yard backstroke with a time of 25.14.
Esson earned a win in the women's 200-yard backstroke, and Yute followed with another victory in the men's 200-yard backstroke.
The Crimson Hawks also controlled the distance events, as Avital Flaishman won the women's 500-yard freestyle and Ty Uhlig captured the men's 200-yard freestyle.
