INDIANA, Pa. — Indiana University of Pennsylvania used balanced scoring, strong rebounding and defensive pressure to defeat Slippery Rock University 80-43 in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference women's basketball action Saturday at the Kovalchick Complex.
Indiana steadily built control throughout the game, leading 18-11 after the first quarter and 39-19 at halftime before a decisive third quarter pushed the game out of reach.
Teresa Maggio led the Crimson Hawks with 13 points, while Marin Miller also reached double figures with 12. Molly Keane recorded a double-double off the bench with 13 points and 11 rebounds. Nyshae' Weaver added nine points, 11 rebounds and six assists, and Ellie Wilkerson chipped in nine points with three steals.
Belle Bosch contributed six points and seven rebounds, while Madison Zavasky added nine points and six boards as Indiana dominated the glass and moved the ball efficiently throughout the contest.
Defensively, the Crimson Hawks limited Slippery Rock's scoring opportunities and controlled the tempo throughout the second half, turning stops into transition offense.
The victory keeps Indiana firmly in the PSAC race as the Crimson Hawks continue building momentum heading deeper into conference play.
