Snowberger’s Walk-Off Lifts IUP in Neutral-Site Twinbill

Lewisburg, Pennsylvania — The Indiana University of Pennsylvania baseball team returned to the diamond Sunday on the campus of Bucknell University for a neutral-site doubleheader against Thomas Jefferson University. The teams played 16 total innings, including extra frames in game one before darkness suspended game two in the fifth inning.

IUP secured its first win of the season in the opener, claiming a 12-inning victory on a walk-off bases-loaded walk drawn by left fielder Aiden Snowberger. It marked Snowberger's third walk of the game and the 10th issued by Jefferson pitching.

The Crimson Hawks pounded out 13 hits in the extra-inning win. Ricardo Aponte and Erik Rhodes collected three hits apiece, while Teague Hoover and David Kessler added multi-hit performances.

Aponte drove in two runs with a fifth-inning double and was later thrown out attempting to stretch the hit into a triple. Rhodes delivered a key moment in the sixth, tripling to right field to plate the game-tying run.

IUP used five pitchers over the 12 innings. Freshman Nathan Porath earned his first collegiate victory in relief. Sophomore Cameron Copple started and worked 5 1/3 innings, striking out five while allowing four earned runs. Addison Clymer, Jake Detwiler and Jahmil Ribera combined for five innings of relief to bridge the game to its dramatic finish.

Game two was halted in the fifth inning due to darkness.

The Crimson Hawks return to action Friday, Feb. 27, in Morgantown, West Virginia at Mylan Park, where they will face Salem University at 11:30 a.m.
