KUTZTOWN, Pa. — The Indiana University of Pennsylvania women's lacrosse team opened its 2026 season Saturday afternoon with a 14-1 road loss at Kutztown University.
IUP fell to 0-1 overall, while the Golden Bears improved to 1-0.
After Kutztown scored three early goals, the Crimson Hawks broke through late in the first quarter when Alexi Crosby found the back of the net with 23 seconds remaining, trimming the deficit to 3-1.
Kutztown responded with a strong second quarter to create separation and carried momentum into halftime with a double-digit advantage. The Golden Bears continued to press in the second half, capitalizing on draw controls and transition opportunities.
Lauren Legrand made eight saves in goal for IUP, battling through steady offensive pressure. The Crimson Hawks generated 21 shots in the contest and looked to build offensive rhythm as the game progressed.
Despite the setback, IUP gained valuable early-season experience and will look to regroup as it prepares for its next nonconference matchup.
