INDIANA, Pa. — The Indiana University of Pennsylvania women's lacrosse team started fast but could not sustain the momentum in a 20-4 loss to East Stroudsburg in its home opener Wednesday afternoon at Miller Stadium.
The Crimson Hawks (0-2) scored four of the first six goals to take an early 4-2 lead after the opening quarter. Macenzie Haragos led the early push with a goal and an assist, while Maggie Boyle, Alexi Crosby and Leah Moyer each added first-quarter goals.
East Stroudsburg answered late in the first half, scoring five straight goals to take a 7-4 lead into the break.
The Warriors controlled the second half, holding IUP scoreless while adding 10 goals over the final two quarters to secure the win.
Haragos finished with a goal and an assist to lead the Crimson Hawks offensively. Boyle, Crosby and Moyer each tallied one goal.
IUP split time in goal between starter Lauren Legrand and Mia Courtalis. The two combined for nine saves.
