INDIANA, Pa. — The IUP women's basketball team dropped a PSAC matchup to Gannon, 71-62, on Saturday afternoon at the Kovalchick Convention & Athletic Complex.
The Crimson Hawks trailed 19-15 after the first quarter but battled back to stay within reach, facing a 30-27 deficit at halftime. IUP remained close through the third quarter before Gannon pulled away in the final period to secure the victory.
Nyshae' Weaver led the Crimson Hawks with 22 points and five rebounds, converting 10 of 11 free-throw attempts. Teresa Maggio added 12 points, while Marin Miller finished with 10 points. Belle Bosch chipped in nine points and six rebounds.
IUP shot 34.7 percent from the field and went 3-for-15 from 3-point range while converting 25 of 29 attempts at the free-throw line.
The Crimson Hawks fall to the No. 2 seed in the West, but still receive a first-round BYE int he PSAC Tournament. IUP will host the winner of Millersville and East Stroudsburg on Wednesday, March 4 at 5:30 p.m. in the KCAC.
