IUP Softball Finishes Strong Raleigh Weekend With Split, Posts 3-1 Tournament Record

RALEIGH, N.C. — The Indiana (Pa.) softball team split a pair of games Sunday to close out tournament play in Raleigh with a 3-1 weekend record, evening its overall mark at 4-4. 🥎

The Crimson Hawks opened the day with a 5-2 victory over Lincoln behind strong offensive performances from Maddie Griffin and Delaney Patella. Both players recorded multi-hit games, with Patella belting her first home run of the season and driving in two runs. Griffin reached base four times on three singles and a walk to help pace the offense.

Madison Booth earned her first win of the season in the circle, while Kendall Young recorded the save to secure the victory.

In the second game, IUP dropped an extra-inning contest to Carson-Newman despite another strong showing from Patella. The third baseman collected two hits, including her second home run of the day, and drove in two runs for the Crimson Hawks.

Taylor Bumgardner went the distance in the loss, pitching 7 2/3 innings while allowing three earned runs on six hits. She struck out five batters in the complete-game effort.

IUP will return to action Wednesday with a road doubleheader against Fairmont State. First pitch of game one is scheduled for 1 p.m.
