IUP women’s tennis defeats Augusta, 5-2

HILTON HEAD, S.C. — The Indiana University of Pennsylvania women's tennis team secured a 5-2 victory over Augusta on Tuesday, winning the doubles point and four singles matches to claim the nonconference matchup.

The Crimson Hawks took an early advantage by winning two of three doubles matches. Isabelle Oikawa Torres and Charliz Tabili earned a 6-1 victory at No. 2 doubles, while Lea von Kozierowski and Maria Moskaltsova added a 6-2 win at No. 3 to secure the point for IUP.

IUP carried the momentum into singles play, capturing four matches.

Von Kozierowski dominated at No. 1 singles with a 6-0, 6-2 win, and Moskaltsova added a straight-set victory at No. 3 singles, defeating her opponent 6-4, 6-2.

Tabili also contributed a point for the Crimson Hawks with a three-set win at No. 4 singles. After taking the first set 6-0 and dropping the second, she secured the match with a 10-3 tiebreak victory.

Hannah Beitat rallied for another IUP point at No. 5 singles, bouncing back after losing the opening set to win 4-6, 6-4, 10-5.

Augusta claimed two singles matches, but the Crimson Hawks' strong showing in doubles and four singles victories secured the team win.
