GREENWOOD, S.C. — The IUP women's lacrosse team dropped a nonconference matchup to Lander, 14-9, on Wednesday afternoon.

The Crimson Hawks battled throughout the contest but were unable to overcome a strong offensive showing by the Bearcats, who used scoring runs in the middle quarters to create separation.

IUP stayed competitive early as the teams traded goals in the opening period. Lander gradually built momentum in the second quarter, capitalizing on several offensive opportunities to take control heading into halftime.

The Crimson Hawks continued to push offensively in the second half, finding the net multiple times to keep the deficit manageable. However, Lander answered key scoring chances and maintained its advantage down the stretch to secure the win.

IUP produced a balanced offensive effort with several players contributing goals, while the defense and goalkeeper worked to limit Lander's chances late in the game.
