INDIANA, Pa. — Nyshae' Weaver recorded a double-double and three other players scored in double figures as Indiana University of Pennsylvania defeated Seton Hill 94-87 in the NCAA Division II Women's Basketball Tournament on Saturday.
Weaver finished with 25 points and 12 rebounds to lead the Crimson Hawks, who shot 53.8% from the field and held off a late push from the Griffins.
Teresa Maggio added 20 points for IUP, connecting on three 3-pointers, while Marin Miller scored 15 points and dished out five assists. Ellie Wilkerson contributed 14 points and a game-high eight assists.
IUP built momentum in the first half, using an efficient offensive performance to take a 51-38 lead into halftime. The Crimson Hawks continued to control the game through the third quarter before Seton Hill mounted a rally late in the fourth.
The Griffins tied the game at 84-84 with just over four minutes remaining, but IUP responded with a decisive run. Wilkerson knocked down a key 3-pointer and the Crimson Hawks converted several free throws in the final minutes to secure the victory.
IUP finished with 21 assists on 35 made field goals and outrebounded Seton Hill 36-27. The Crimson Hawks also connected on 10 shots from beyond the arc.
Hallie Cowan and Helene Cowan led Seton Hill offensively, helping the Griffins stay within striking distance throughout the second half.
With the win, IUP advances to the next round of the NCAA Division II Atlantic Regional as the Crimson Hawks continue their postseason run.
