INDIANA, Pa. — Camden Rhude delivered a walk-off home run in Game 1 to lift Indiana (Pa.) to a dramatic victory before Gannon took the nightcap, earning a split in PSAC West play.
Rhude's blast in the bottom of the seventh gave IUP a 5-2 win in the opener. He finished with a home run and two RBIs to lead the Crimson Hawks, who scored five runs on four hits.
Erik Rhodes also homered and drove in a run, while Ricardo Aponte added an RBI. Despite limited hits, IUP capitalized on key opportunities with two long balls accounting for much of the offense.
The Crimson Hawks' pitching staff held Gannon to two runs on four hits, combining for six strikeouts and one walk to keep the game within reach before the late heroics.
Gannon responded in Game 2 with a 6-2 victory. The Golden Knights broke the game open in the middle innings and held off IUP to avoid the sweep.
IUP pitchers again struck out six, but allowed six runs, four earned, on seven hits in the loss.
The split was highlighted by Rhude's walk-off home run in the opener, as the Crimson Hawks secured a key conference win before Gannon answered in the nightcap.
