IUP falls at Seton Hill in PSAC opener despite balanced attack

GREENSBURG, Pa. — Indiana University of Pennsylvania opened Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference play Saturday with a 15-11 loss to Seton Hill.

The Crimson Hawks were led by Alexi Crosby and Maggie Boyle, who each scored two goals. Crosby also added two assists to lead IUP with four points, while Boyle netted both of her goals in the second half to help fuel a comeback attempt.

Mila Prusak, Macenzie Haragos, Leah Moyer and Lauren Riggs each added a goal for IUP, with Riggs also contributing an assist. The Crimson Hawks showed offensive balance with multiple players contributing across all four quarters.

IUP started quickly, building a 5-4 lead after the first quarter behind early production from Crosby, Riggs and Moyer. However, Seton Hill responded with a decisive 6-1 run in the second quarter, holding IUP to just one goal and taking a 10-6 lead into halftime.

The Crimson Hawks answered in the third quarter, outscoring the Griffins 4-1 to cut the deficit to 11-10. Goals from Prusak, Boyle and Haragos highlighted the surge as IUP pulled within one entering the final period.

Seton Hill regained control in the fourth quarter, limiting IUP to one goal while scoring four times to pull away for the win.

Mia Martorano helped IUP at the draw circle, providing key possessions throughout the game as the Crimson Hawks attempted to rally.

IUP will look to bounce back Wednesday when it hosts Gannon in its next PSAC matchup.
