INDIANA, Pa. — The IUP baseball team entered its weekend series against PSAC West leader Seton Hill having won nine of its previous 10 games, but the momentum did not carry over as the Griffins completed a four-game sweep of the Crimson Hawks.
Friday's games were decided by one run each, with IUP falling just short in both contests.
Sunday's matchups also went in favor of Seton Hill.
In Game 1, IUP led 3-2 before Seton Hill used a three-run sixth inning to take control. Cameron Copple was solid through five innings, allowing three earned runs, but was charged with two runs in the sixth and took the loss.
Game 2 proved difficult for the Crimson Hawks, who committed six errors while finishing with eight hits.
The bright spot for IUP was senior Elijah Dunn. The preseason all-region selection, who had started the season slowly, hit three home runs across the two games Sunday. Dunn now has four home runs this season, tying Ricardo Aponte for the team lead, and has driven in 11 runs, ranking among the top five on the team.
IUP returns to Dougherty Field on Tuesday for a nine-inning game against Point Park. First pitch is set for 1 p.m.
