INDIANA, Pa. — The wind was blowing out as Point Park and IUP combined for 18 extra-base hits, including 10 home runs, in a hitters' paradise at Owen J. Dougherty Field on South Campus on Tuesday.
The teams combined for 36 runs on 37 hits, but Point Park led wire to wire to secure the victory.
Braydon May started on the mound for IUP, pitching 2 1/3 innings.
Three players recorded multiple home runs in the game, including IUP's Camden Rhude, who hit two and drove in four runs. Rhude went 4 for 6 with three runs scored.
Redshirt junior Ricardo Aponte, playing first base, recorded his 100th career RBI while driving in six runs, highlighted by a seventh-inning grand slam.
IUP's pitching staff recorded 10 strikeouts, with the bullpen covering 6 2/3 innings.
The Crimson Hawks return to Dougherty Field on Friday to host Slippery Rock. First pitch of Game 1 is set for 1 p.m.
