IUP, Slippery Rock Split Opening Games of Key PSAC West Series

INDIANA, Pa. – The IUP Crimson Hawks baseball and Slippery Rock baseball split the first two games of their weekend series as both teams battle for positioning in the PSAC West standings.

IUP took game one in dramatic fashion, rallying late before a walk-off hit from Elijah Dunn secured the win. Slippery Rock answered in game two behind a dominant outing on the mound to even the series.

Game one saw the Crimson Hawks jump out to a 4-0 lead in the first inning and extend it to 6-1 by the fifth. Slippery Rock responded with a run in the fifth and a five-run sixth inning to take a late lead.

Facing his final strike in the ninth, Anthony Annichine delivered a clutch double down the line to score pinch runner Aiden Snowberger and tie the game. It marked Annichine's second RBI of the contest.

After both teams were held scoreless in extra innings, Dunn ended it in the ninth with a walk-off single to left field, once again scoring Snowberger. Jake Detwiler earned his first win of the season.

In game two, Slippery Rock's Cole Grady controlled the game, tossing 6.1 innings while allowing just one run on five hits and striking out nine. Nathan Mankoski took the loss for IUP.

David Kessler accounted for the Crimson Hawks' lone run with an RBI.

The series shifts to Slippery Rock on Saturday, with the final two games scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.
