INDIANA, Pa. — The IUP women's lacrosse team suffered a 14-12 loss to Seton Hill on Saturday.
Senior Leah Moyer led the Crimson Hawks with four goals, including three in the second half.
Seton Hill built an early advantage, taking a 5-3 lead after the first quarter and extending it to 8-5 at halftime. Carley O'Mara opened the scoring just 30 seconds into the game and finished with three goals. She was joined by teammate Elena Traficante, who also scored three times to lead the Griffins.
IUP made a push in the second half, outscoring Seton Hill 7-6, including a 3-1 edge in the third quarter to cut the deficit to 9-8. However, the Crimson Hawks were unable to get any closer.
The Griffins added five goals in the fourth quarter as the teams traded scores, with Seton Hill netting the final goal with 1:24 remaining to seal the win.
With the loss, IUP fell to 6-7 overall and 3-3 in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference West play, sitting in third place. Seton Hill improved to 8-4 overall and 5-1 in the PSAC, holding second place.
IUP will travel to Erie to face Gannon on Wednesday, April 15. The Golden Knights enter the matchup in fifth place in the division at 1-4.
