ERIE, Pa. — The IUP women's lacrosse team set season highs in shots and caused turnovers in a 15-3 win over Gannon.
IUP outshot Gannon 38-9 and forced 29 turnovers. Julia Steere recorded a team-high nine shots, scoring six goals on seven shots on goal. Alexi Crosby and Leah Moyer also scored multiple goals. Crosby had three goals on five shots, while Moyer added two goals on six shots.
PSAC West Defensive Athlete of the Week Rachel Knight led IUP with five ground balls and four caused turnovers. Maggie Boyle added four ground balls as IUP collected 31 in the game.
With the win, the Crimson Hawks improved to 4-3 in conference play and hold a one-game lead over fourth-place Lock Haven, which visits Miller Stadium next Wednesday. IUP will travel to first-place Slippery Rock on Saturday. Opening draw is set for noon.
