IUP tops Slippery Rock 4-3 for third straight ranked win

INDIANA, Pa. — The IUP women's tennis team completed its most challenging three-match stretch of the season unbeaten, defeating No. 45 Slippery Rock 4-3 for its third consecutive win over a nationally ranked opponent.

The Crimson Hawks dropped the doubles point for the first time in PSAC play but rallied to win four of six singles matches.

PSAC West Athlete of the Week Lea von Kozierwoski earned another win at No. 1 singles, while freshman Chaliz Tabili carried momentum from a tiebreak victory Sunday to clinch the match.

IUP moved up to No. 24 in the ITA rankings, one spot behind regional foe Charleston (W.Va.), which it defeated Sunday.

The Crimson Hawks return to Maple Street this weekend, hosting Salem on Saturday and recognizing seniors. IUP returns to PSAC play Sunday against Edinboro.
