SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. — Indiana (Pa.) dropped both games of a PSAC West doubleheader to Slippery Rock on Saturday, including an extra-inning loss in the nightcap.
The Crimson Hawks fell to 18-16 overall and 8-4 in conference play.
In Game 2, IUP lost 4-3 in 11 innings despite a late rally. The Crimson Hawks totaled seven hits and drew five walks but stranded 12 runners on base.
Madi Pikula led the offense with a triple and a run scored, while Jaycee Haidze had two hits and an RBI. Ruby Singleton added a double, and Brianna Pusateri drove in a run.
IUP scored two runs in the seventh inning to force extra innings and added another run in the 11th.
Taylor Bumgardner pitched a complete game, going 10 2/3 innings. She allowed four runs, three earned, on 10 hits while striking out five.
Slippery Rock secured the win with a run in the bottom of the 11th.
In Game 1, IUP was unable to generate enough offense, as Slippery Rock controlled play throughout to take the opener.
