RIVERDALE, N.Y. – The IUP cross country teams competed Friday at the Iona Meet of Champions in the Bronx, with the Crimson Hawks racing on the 25th anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.
IUP was one of four men's teams and six women's teams competing in the event, hosted by Iona.
Men's 8K
Sophomore Dominic Kuntz paced the Crimson Hawks, finishing 18th overall with a time of 28:18.9.
Freshman Michael Andretta followed with a top-20 finish, crossing the line in 20th. Sophomore Colton Henning finished less than 10 seconds behind Andretta in 21st.
Steve Janke and Nathan Kociela completed IUP's five scoring positions, finishing 23rd and 24th, respectively.
The Crimson Hawks totaled 80 points to finish third in the four-team field, placing ahead of Lehman.
Women's 5K
Zaya McCune led the IUP women with a 16th-place finish, crossing the line in 20:12.6 and scoring 16 points for the Crimson Hawks.
Freshman Anna Jaworski followed in 20th, while junior Camryn Roche placed 22nd. Freshman Rylan Carney crossed the line in 23rd, with senior Lexi Lovrich completing IUP's scoring lineup in 26th.
The Crimson Hawks totaled 107 points to finish fifth in the six-team field.
