CALIFORNIA, Pa. – The IUP cross country teams opened their seasons in a new way Friday, traveling to California (Pa.) to compete head-to-head against the Vulcans in the Tin Cup Dual.

The IUP men dominated their season debut, taking the top six spots and placing nine runners inside the top 10. Sophomore Dominic Kuntz led the Crimson Hawks across the finish line, completing the race in 16:43.1 and edging teammate Colton Henning by one-tenth of a second.

Henning, Michael Andretta, Nathan Kociela, Steven Janke and Will Weaver followed Kuntz to round out the top six as IUP swept the front of the field.

Overall, nine of the first 10 runners across the finish line represented the Crimson and Gray.

The women's dual came down to a single point, with California edging IUP, 28-29..

The Crimson Hawks return to action Friday, Sept. 11, traveling to Riverdale, New York, to compete in the Iona Meet of Champions.
