Vinge Leads IUP into Second at Dr. Wally Edgell Invitational

ROANOKE, W.Va. – Senior Jon Vinge fired back-to-back rounds under par Monday to lead IUP men's golf into second place through 36 holes of the Dr. Wally Edgell Invitational at Stonewall Resort.

The Crimson Hawks opened the 17-team event with a 5-over 293 before improving by six strokes with a 1-under 287 in the second round. IUP enters Tuesday's final round alone in second at 4-over 580, seven strokes behind tournament leader Glenville State.

Vinge led the way with rounds of 2-under 70 and 1-under 71, finishing the day alone in third place at 3-under 141.

The senior recorded seven birdies across his opening 36 holes and added an eagle on the par-5 18th during the first round. Vinge's opening-round 70 marked the second-lowest round of his IUP career, trailing only a 68 earlier in his career.

The eagle was also not the first of Vinge's career after he chipped in for eagle during IUP's home invitational in 2025.

Vinge enters the final round searching for his first career top-10 finish in his 21st event as a Crimson Hawk.

Freshmen Eli Bintrim and Sam Bishop also put themselves inside the top 15 heading into the final round.

Bintrim posted rounds of 74 and 73, while Bishop carded a 75 before shooting an even-par 72 in the second round. Both sit tied for 12th at 3-over 147.

Trevor Todd continued his strong start to the season with another round under par. After opening with a 5-over 77, the Indiana native responded with a 1-under 71 to move into a tie for 17th at 4-over 148.
