ROANOKE, W.Va. – Senior Jon Vinge and freshman Eli Bintrim each secured the first top-five finish of their careers Tuesday as IUP men's golf finished second at the Dr. Wally Edgell Invitational at Stonewall Resort.

The Crimson Hawks entered the final round in second place following a strong opening 36 holes Monday and maintained that position with a 6-over 294 in the final round. IUP finished the 54-hole event at 10-over 874, six strokes behind tournament champion Glenville State.

IUP finished 13 strokes ahead of third-place Bluefield State. Just five strokes separated third through fifth place in the final team standings.

Vinge entered Tuesday in third after posting rounds of 2-under 70 and 1-under 71 Monday, two of the lowest rounds of his IUP career. The senior closed with a 4-over 76 to finish at 1-over 217, earning his first career top-five finish.

Bintrim matched Vinge at 217 following the best round of his young collegiate career. The freshman entered the final round at 3-over before firing a 2-under 70, the lowest round by a Crimson Hawk on Tuesday.

Bintrim's performance earned him his first collegiate top-five finish in just his second event at IUP.

Vinge and Bintrim finished in a four-way tie for fourth alongside Glenville State's Gerva Leyes Lasmartes and Segundo Del Carril.

Trevor Todd and Sam Bishop also finished inside the top 20, tying for 17th at 6-over 222. Todd closed with a 2-over 74, while Bishop carded a 3-over 75.

Ben De Castro, competing as an individual, fired an even-par 72 in the final round to finish tied for 21st at 7-over 223.

Zaiden Dennis rounded out the IUP lineup with a 3-over 75 Tuesday, finishing tied for 30th at 10-over 226.
