CLARION, Pa. – The IUP women's volleyball team continued its winning ways Saturday, battling past Clarion in five sets for its 10th consecutive victory.
IUP (11-3, 5-0 PSAC) earned the 3-2 road victory by set scores of 25-19, 19-25, 23-25, 25-22 and 15-9, rallying after falling behind two sets to one.
Delaney Concannon and Jessica Neiman powered the Crimson Hawk attack with 17 kills apiece. Concannon added 18 digs for a double-double, while Neiman hit .333 for the match.
Charlotte Potvin continued her strong weekend with 14 kills on a .458 hitting percentage, committing just three errors on 24 attacks. She also provided a presence at the net with seven block assists.
IUP opened the afternoon with a 25-19 victory in the first set before Clarion responded with wins in the second and third frames to take control of the match.
Facing a 2-1 deficit, the Crimson Hawks answered in the fourth. IUP fought its way to a 25-22 victory to force a deciding fifth set.
The Crimson Hawks carried that momentum into the finale, jumping ahead and closing out the match with a 15-9 victory to complete the comeback.
IUP finished with 65 kills compared to 58 for Clarion and held the Golden Eagles to a .141 hitting percentage. The Crimson Hawks hit .209 for the match and also held advantages in blocks, 13-12, and digs, 79-70.
Maddie Zechman dished out 27 assists and added 14 digs for a double-double, while Ellie Rauch finished with 28 assists. Four Crimson Hawks reached double figures in digs.
The victory completed a perfect road weekend for IUP after the Crimson Hawks defeated Slippery Rock in four sets Friday. IUP has now won 10 consecutive matches and remains unbeaten in conference play.
