Senior golfer Max Kirsch has been named an IUP Athlete of the Week, for the week ending on Sunday, October 16. It's Kirsch's first ever IUP weekly award.
Kirsch had a huge weekend, winning the individual title at the 2016 PSAC Men's Golf Championships on Sunday while also helping IUP to the team championship.
The senior shot a three-under 68 in Sunday's second round, coming from seven strokes back after Saturday. Tied with West Chester's Andrew Patterson, he won in a playoff hole to finish his dramatic comeback. He was one of three IUP players to finish in the top 10 overall, as the Crimson Hawks won the program's 27th all-time conference title.
The 68 was the lowest round of any golfer during the tournament, and is tied for Kirsch's best ever as a collegian.
