Women's tennis senior Jarka Petercakova has been named an IUP Athlete of the Week, for the week ending on Sunday, April 2.
IUP's No. 1 player, Petercakova went a combined 7-1 in four matches last week. She boasted a 4-0 singles record, with a key 6-0, 6-2 win over Grand Valley State's top player, who is ranked No. 11 in the Midwest Region. Petercakova had two other easy wins of 6-0, 6-0 and 6-2, 6-0 against Clarion and Edinboro earlier in the week.
In doubles play, she teamed with Luise von Agris for a 3-1 record, with their only loss (8-3) to a tough Wayne State duo on Sunday.
This is Petercakova's second Athlete of the Week award of the year, and third of her career.
