Sophomore pole vaulter DJ Horton has been named an IUP Athlete of the Week, which was announced by the sports information office on Tuesday, May 30.
Horton wrapped up successful individual season with All-American honors this past weekend at the 2017 NCAA Division II Outdoor Championships in Bradenton, Florida.
Horton finished in a tie for eighth place in the pole vault, earning his second career first team All-American honor at an NCAA Outdoor Championship meet. He cleared a height of 5.06 meters (16-7.25) on his first attempt.
This is the sophomore's second All-American honor of the year, picking up second team accolades at the NCAA Indoor Championships in March.
It's Horton's fifth IUP Athlete of the Week Award this year, and the eighth of his career.
