INDIANA, PA - Melissa Kornock (Hatfield/North Penn) scored her 13th goal of the season, helping IUP to a 1-1 tie with Alderson-Broaddus in the Crimson Hawks regular season finale in the rain on Thursday afternoon in George P. Miller Stadium.

The match was moved up 30 minutes to 2:30 p.m. and switched from the Crimson Hawks usual home of South Campus Field to Miller Stadium due to the constant rain on Thursday.

After a scoreless first half that featured just two shots on goal, Kornock got the Crimson Hawks on the board in the 49th minute with a shot from 25 yards out to the top left corner of the net.

It didn't take long for Alderson-Broaddus to tie the score, getting a goal from Gwen Brand five minutes later.

The Crimson Hawks then went on the offensive, getting off eight shots the rest of the half trying to take back the lead. The best chance came early in the 84th minute when Rene Turkowski (Pittsburgh/Penn-Trafford) took a shot from 35 yards out that flew over the outstretched hand of the goalie but hit the top of the post, barely missing the game-winner.

IUP peppered the goal with plenty of shots in overtime, getting off nine compared to ust one for Alderson-Broaddus in the 20 minutes. In the final overtime period, Kornock had a shot that hit the post, while Tonya Fabian (Pittsburgh/Thomas Jefferson)Heather Robbins (Frederica, DE/Polytech) and Paige Virgara (Pittsburgh/Keystone Oaks) all had shots that were saved. The Crimson Hawks final chance came in the 107th minute when Kaitlyn Kaminski (Rochester, NY/Churchville-Chili)'s header off of a corner from Virgara went high, barely missing the goal.

IUP finishes the regular season 11-3-3, 9-3-2 in PSAC play, and has wrapped up a spot in the conference tournament which will begin next Tuesday. The Crimson Hawks will await word on when and where they will play this weekend.
