Crimson Hawks Drop a Pair at Seton Hill

Frank Sirolli (Cinnaminson, N.J./Cinnaminson) was 2 for 3 but a late Seton Hill rally handed the Crimson Hawks a 4-3 loss in game two of a doubleheader. IUP dropped game one 13-3 at Seton Hill earlier Tuesday afternoon.

The Crimson Hawks held a 2-0 edge after scoring twice in the top of the third inning. Vern Powell (Tabernacle, N.J./Seneca) singled with one out and later stole second. Mike Lupia (Middletown/Middletown) doubled and then scored when on an error.

IUP extended the lead with a run in the fourth inning. Dylan Songer (Baden/North Allegheny) singled and advanced to third on a Tyler Mroz (Pittsburgh/Chartiers Valley) single. Sirolli singled and drove home Songer.

Seton Hill answered with a run in the bottom of the fourth and fifth and then scored twice in the sixth the seal the win.

Ben Wiemer was hooked with the loss going 1 1/3 innings allowing two runs on two hits with a strikeout and a walk. Craig Hibell (New Bethlehem/Redbank Valley) started the game going four innings allowing two runs on three hits, one strikeout and two walks.

Brett Quiggle (Weedville/St. Marys) drove in two of IUP's three runs in game one with a one out double in the top of the fifth inning.

The Crimson Hawks return to action when the travel to Gannon Friday for a PSAC West matchup.
