PSAC Release
LOCK HAVEN, PA - IUP sophomore
Kelly King (Nazareth/Bethlehem Catholic) has been named the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Central Division Pitcher of the Week, it was announced by the conference office on Monday afternoon.
King earned the award after going 2-0 with a 0.50 ERA in two starts last week, notching complete games in each victory. She allowed 12 hits in her 14.0 innings of work but allowed just one run to cross the plate as she struck out five and walked just two batters. IUP went 3-1 during the week.
In a 1-0 win over PSAC Central opponent Lock Haven on Friday, King allowed six hits but none would result in runs as she consistently pitched out of tough jams all day, notching two strikeouts. She struck out three in a Wednesday win over Shepherd, as the Crimson Hawks were victories 5-1.
King is 5-3 on the season and holds a 2.60 ERA, striking out 29 batters in 59.1 innings. She has six complete games and three shutouts.
The Crimson Hawks (11-7-1, 1-1) play at Gannon on Monday afternoon and return home this weekend to host Mansfield on Friday and West Chester on Saturday.
