HUNTINGDON, PA – The IUP women's volleyball team travelled to Juniata College on Tuesday night, falling to the Eagles in three sets.
The Crimson Hawks lost 25-14, 25-13 and 25-16 to the Division III power, which is 13-0 this season. IUP drops to 3-8 overall.
The Eagles raced out to a 7-2 lead in the opening set, keeping their lead at more than five for the entirety. They took an 11-3 lead in the night's second set before the Crimson Hawks stormed back, going on runs of 5-1 and 5-0 to narrow their deficit to 14-13. However, Juniata took a 2-0 lead in the match with an 11-0 run to end the set.
The Crimson Hawks took a 3-1 lead in the third set and were later ahead 4-3 before Juniata went on a 13-3 run to take control of the set and eventually win the match.
Elizabeth Sova (Myerstown, Pa. /ELCO), the reigning Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference player of the week, led the team with six kills on 10 attacks and
Lily McWilliams (Rockville, Md./Thomas Sprigg Wootton) finished with three total blocks.
The Crimson Hawks are back in action on Friday to compete in the PSAC crossover this weekend at Seton Hill.
